By Flavia Nakagwa A rehabilitation centre for people with disabilities will soon be set up. A South Korean organisation will set up the $2m (sh3.4b) facility, according to Rev. Park Sung-Gu. Sung-Gu, the president of Little Jesus Organisation, under the Gibbun Woori World, said the centre would include an orphanage, health centre, child sponsorship scheme and a medical facility to cater for over 10,000 people yearly. “We want to provide holistic rehabilitation services to people with disabilities and help them overcome social barriers.” Speaking during an interview last week, Sung-Gu said there was need to create self-help projects aimed at alleviating poverty among the handicapped and other marginalised people in the country. He added that society should fight social prejudice and discrimination towards people with disabilities and orphans and ensure that their rights are respected. The centre, said Sung-Gu, would also distribute crutches, wheelchairs and hearing aids.
