CHASING POVERTY IN A POPULATION OF 28 MILLIONS PEOPLE IS NOT EASY

EDITOR—An old man from pakadha parish in Nebbi district who assumed I knew everything, asked me whether the ‘prosperity for all’ programme was simply not ‘hot air’. The question awoke me to the bitter fact that development is a process. Development economists will agree with me that ‘chasing’ poverty from a population of 28 million people and in a period of three years is a daunting task that needs the expertise of super specialists. I hope the old man’s suspicion is not true. All the stakeholders had better pull up their socks. P'Owathum Onegi Nebbi
